Lip Blush Tattoo — 2 Week Pre-Prep Instructions
Faces By Maryanna — Rockwall, TX
To ensure the best results and smoothest healing, please follow these guidelines for 2 weeks before your appointment:
Avoid These:
No ibuprofen
No aspirin
No fish oil
No vitamin E
No turmeric products
No alcohol for at least 72 hours before your appointment
Do These:
Take Allegra one hour before your appointment to help minimize swelling and sensitivity.
Begin taking Arnica as soon as possible (available on Amazon or local pharmacies) and continue as directed to help reduce swelling and bruising.
Important Medical Note (Cold Sores/Herpes Simplex):
If you have ever had a cold sore (oral herpes simplex virus), you must see your doctor and obtain an antiviral prescription (such as Acyclovir or Valacyclovir).
The usual protocol is:
Start medication 6 days before your lip blush appointment
Continue for 6 days after
Please ensure you have enough medication for your touch-up appointment as well.
Following these steps will help ensure your lip blush tattoo heals beautifully with the best pigment retention and minimal complications.
Lip Blush Tattoo Aftercare — Handle With Care
Your lips are an open wound during the healing process. Please be extremely careful when touching them or applying ointment. Always use clean hands or a fresh cotton swab. Infection can occur easily if aftercare is not followed correctly.
First 2 Weeks — Healing Phase
Constantly apply the healing ointment provided by Maryanna in a gentle rolling motion across your lips.
Pick up a tube of Aquaphor (tube only, not jar) and reapply frequently throughout the day to keep lips constantly hydrated and lubricated.
Never let your lips dry out during the first two weeks.
What to Expect
Lips will begin peeling within 2–3 days.
This is normal — do not pick, rub, or peel the skin, as this can pull pigment out and cause uneven healing.
Chapped lips usually resolve within 2–3 days, but internal healing takes up to 6 weeks.
Color will go through several stages — it may appear darker, lighter, or patchy before settling. Final results are soft, defined, and natural.
Do Not
Do not apply other creams, makeup, lip gloss, or sunscreen until fully healed.
Do not encourage peeling or touch flaking skin.
Do not expose lips to direct sun, tanning beds, swimming pools, hot tubs, or saunas for 2 weeks.
Do not drink from dirty cups, bottles, or straws — keep everything clean.
Reminders
Always use clean hands or a cotton swab when applying ointment.
Healing on the surface is quick, but pigment stabilizes in 6 weeks.
Your follow-up appointment perfects the color and shape, filling in any light areas.
With proper care, your lips will heal into a gorgeous, natural blush of color that lasts.
